Genesis HealthCare System invites you to attend Aging Smart, a four-part program to help you be prepared with resources and options as you age.

The program will cover topics such as: 

·       Health, wellness and aging

·       Community resources and volunteer opportunities available in our communities

·       End-of-life decision making

·       Advance directives, living wills and healthcare powers of attorney 

·       Hospice and palliative care information

·       Health insurance and financial planning information

·       And more

The four-part program will include:

·       Refreshments

·       A notebook filled with community resources, wellness tips and recipes

·       Engaging speakers

·       Industry experts available to answer your future planning questions

The classes will take place at 5:30 p.m. on June 27, July 25, Aug. 29 and Sept. 26

Cost

The program fee is $20 for the entire series due at the time of registration. Financial assistance for the registration fee is available for those who qualify. Please contact 740-450-6232 with questions.

Deadline to register is Friday, June 23 for the entire series. Seating is limited.

Part 1: How can I be healthy as I age?
•    Tips and research on aging well – nutrition, movement and more.
•    Importance of a having a primary care physician. 
•    How to use MyChart.
•    Set health, education and conversation goals.
•    Where to find local resources as you age.

Part 2: Do I need an Advance Directives?
•    Discuss end-of-life decision making.
•    Explain differences between a living will and power of attorney. 
•    Complete an Advance Directive. 
•    Create a plan to talk about your chosen decision makers.
•    Lists of community resources and volunteer opportunities in our communities.


Part 3: What Happens if I get Sick? 
•    Hospice and Palliative Care: what are they? When do we use them? 
•    Skilled nursing and rehabilitation information.
•    Health insurance and financial planning information. 
•    Medicaid law.


Part 4: Will I run out money?
•    Finacial planning.
•    Creating a will and bequests.
•    Leaving a legacy reflection/conversation. 
•    Set personal goals - your hopes for current and future seasons of your life.
