Fortune/PINC AI Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals 2024
Genesis HealthCare System was ranked as one of America's Top 50 Heart Hospitals by Fortune Magazine/PINC AI for the second year in a row in 2024. Rankings were based on results for treating patients with a wide range of heart conditions and the cost of that care. Read more about this award here.
Primary Stroke Certification 2024
Genesis HealthCare System achieved Primary Stroke Certification from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care. This three-year certification means that Genesis can stabilize and treat acute stroke patients, provide acute care and administer tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), an FDA-approved treatment for ischemic strokes, as well as other therapies safely and efficiently.
Vascular Accreditation - Genesis Coshocton Medical Center
The Genesis Coshocton Medical Center has undergone a thorough review by a panel of experts that grants accreditation only to hospitals and medical centers that are found to provide quality patient care in compliance with national standards. IAC accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indication that Genesis has been carefully critiqued on all aspects of its operations considered relevant by medical experts in the field of Vascular.
Echocardiography Accreditation - Genesis Coshocton Medical Center
The Genesis Coshocton Medical Center has undergone a thorough review by a panel of experts that grants accreditation only to hospitals and medical centers that are found to provide quality patient care in compliance with national standards. IAC accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indication that Genesis has been carefully critiqued on all aspects of its operations considered relevant by medical experts in the field of Echocardiography.

AASM Accredited Seep Facility
Genesis Sleep Disorders Center was granted facility reaccreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). To receive this five-year designation, our sleep facility demonstrates commitment to high quality, patient-centered care through adherence to the national standards set by the AASM. The AASM is the only professional society dedicated exclusively to the medical subspecialty of sleep medicine. As the leading voice in the sleep field, the AASM sets standards and promotes excellence in sleep medicine health care, education, and research. The AASM-accredited facility designation has been granted to our Sleep Disorders Center since 1993.

2022 Fortune Magazine/Merative 100 Top Hospitals®
Genesis HealthCare System has been named to the 2022 Fortune Magazine/Merative 100 Top Hospitals® list and also awarded their Everest Award. This is the second time Genesis Hospital has been recognized with this honor as one of the top-performing Large Community Hospitals in the U.S. and the first time receiving the Everest Award. Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC)
Genesis HealthCare System was awarded accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC). The ACHC accreditation is recognized by the federal government, state governments, managed care organizations and insurance companies. The accreditation is authorized by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to survey hospitals for compliance.
American Board for Certification (ABC) of Orthotics and Prosthetics
The American Board for Certification of Orthotics and Prosthetics is the national certifying and accrediting body for orthotic, prosthetic and pedorthic professions. The Genesis Cancer Care Center and Women’s Boutique meet the standards to ensure you reach your goals for fittings after a mastectomy or lumpectomy.
Commission on Cancer (COC)
The Commission on Cancer (COC), a program of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS), recognizes cancer care programs for their commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality, and multidisciplinary patient centered care. The Genesis Cancer Care Center is recognized by COC for providing education on preventing or finding cancer early, offering treatment and therapies, and supporting patients through survival.
American College of Radiology (ACR) Accreditation
American College of Radiology (ACR) Accreditation is recognized as the gold standard in medical imaging. Genesis Cancer Services Radiation Oncology’s ACR accreditation is achieved by demonstrating our commitment to providing the safest and highest quality care possible.
National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC)
Accreditation through the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) demonstrates a commitment to the highest standards of care for patients with diseases of the breast.
Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI)
The Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) can routinely evaluate practice performance against quality measures and standards established by experts in the oncology field. The Genesis Cancer Care Center is required to have policies and procedures in place to meet all standards.
Accredited Cardiac Cath Lab
The American College of Cardiology Accreditation Services has recognized Genesis HealthCare System for its demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients who come to a cardiac cath lab for care. Genesis was awarded Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation based on rigorous onsite evaluation of the staff’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients.
Emergency Department: Level III Trauma Center Certification
The trauma center at Genesis HealthCare System has been reverified as a Level III Trauma Center by the Verification Review Committee, an ad hoc committee of the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons. This achievement recognizes the trauma center’s dedication to providing optimal care for injured patients. Genesis HealthCare System has been verified as a Level III trauma Center since 2010. The verification visit reviews and evaluates trauma care based on numerous stringent criteria that must be fulfilled but mainly focuses on its quality processes.
4-Star Quality Rating (CMS)
Genesis HealthCare System earned a fourth consecutive 4-Star rating for overall hospital quality from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Only 29% of the nation’s hospitals achieved a 4-Star rating. CMS hospital ratings summarize hospital quality data in multiple performance measures such as readmission, patient experience, safety and quality of care. CMS’ hospital rankings are considered among the best hospital report cards to help make informed decisions on where to receive medical care.

Genesis HealthCare System has earned the CHIME Digital Health Most Wired recognition for the 8th consecutive year. Genesis is certified as level 9 for Ambulatory Care and level 9 for Acute Care for 2023. The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association recognize Genesis for meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients. These measures include evaluation of the proper use of medications and other stroke treatments aligned with the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines with the goal of speeding recovery and reducing death and disability for stroke patients.

To receive this three-year designation, Genesis demonstrated through an extensive on-site review that it met or exceeded federal and recognized national standards for patient safety, quality improvement and environmental safety.

InsiderPro Best Places to Work in IT 2021
The IT Department at Genesis HealthCare System has been recognized as one of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals in the U.S. This award, given by IDG’s Insider Pro and Computerworld, is an annual ranking of IT departments across all industries based on a comprehensive employee questionnaire. This is the 8th time the Genesis IT Department has received this award.
Genesis Marketing & Public Relations Receives Awards
Genesis HealthCare System received 10 awards in national marketing competitions. Genesis earned nine awards in the 39th Annual Advertising Awards competition by Healthcare Marketing Report. The categories were podcasts, publication/external, physician referral, special event materials, blog sites, brochures and newsletters. Additionally, awards were given in two special video categories: video production under two minutes and video production over two minutes.

Genesis Earns 'A' for Spring 2020 Hospital Safety Grade
Genesis HealthCare System was awarded an 'A' in the spring 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing Genesis Hospital’s achievements providing safer healthcare. This is the fourth consecutive 'A' for Genesis HealthCare System. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to healthcare quality and safety. The Safety Grade is a letter grade assigned to all general hospitals across the country and updated every six months, assessing how well the hospital prevents medical errors and other harm to patients.
CHIME Digital Health Most Wired
Genesis HealthCare System has earned CHIME Digital Health Most Wired recognition for the 5th consecutive year. Genesis has been certified level 9 for Ambulatory Care, certified level 9 for Physician Offices, and received the CHIME Performance Excellence Award for 2020. These certifications place Genesis in the top 10% of all hospitals in the country utilizing integrated technology. The CHIME Digital Health Most Wired program conducts an annual survey to assess how effectively healthcare organizations apply core and advanced technologies into their clinical and business programs to improve health and care in their communities.
Genesis HealthCare System Receives Score of 8 out of 10 for Most Wired
Genesis HealthCare System has earned the 2019 College of HealthCare Information Management Executives (CHIME) HealthCare’s Most Wired recognition as a certified Level 8. Genesis has also won the new recognition of most wired ambulatory care. The Most Wired program conducted annual surveys of 16,168 organizations to assess how effectively healthcare organizations adopt, integrate and use technology in healthcare.
Genesis Receives 3 Awards in National Marketing Competition
Genesis HealthCare System is the recipient of three Aster Awards, hosted by Marketing Healthcare Today magazine and Creative Images, Inc. Genesis received a gold award for the “Saving Lives Locally,” Genesis Perry County Medical Center Emergency Department marketing campaign; a silver award for the OneCall campaign; and a bronze award for the employee newsletter, Connections.
Genesis Earns 4-Stars From CMS
Genesis Hospital has earned a third consecutive 4-Star rating for Overall Hospital Quality from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Twenty-seven percent of the nation’s hospitals are rated 4-Stars; only 6% have a 5-Star rating.
Genesis Receives "A" for Spring 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade
Genesis Hospital was awarded an "A" from The Leapfrog Group’s spring 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. The designation recognizes Genesis’ efforts in protecting patients from harm and providing safer healthcare. "An ‘A’ grade from The Leapfrog Group demonstrates that Genesis HealthCare System is deeply committed to patient safety," said Matthew Perry, president and CEO of Genesis HealthCare System. Genesis HealthCare System Named Best Place to Work in IT
Genesis HealthCare System was named as a 2019 Best Place to Work in Information Technology by IDG’s Computerworld today. Genesis was ranked No. 24 among midsize businesses. The list of Best Places to Work in IT is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals by Computerworld. The list is compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company benefits, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.
Genesis Receives National Award for Performance in Revenue Cycle
Genesis HealthCare System was awarded the 2019 MAP Award for High Performance in Revenue Cycle. Created by and for healthcare leaders, and sponsored by the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), MAP initiative sets the standard for revenue cycle excellence in the healthcare industry. The accreditation confirms that Genesis Medical Group, LLP, a physician group practice of Genesis HealthCare System, has met industry-standard revenue cycle benchmarks, implemented the patient-centered recommendations and best practices embodied in HFMA’s Healthcare Dollars & Sense® initiatives, and achieved outstanding patient satisfaction.

Genesis HealthCare System is the recipient of two awards in the 36th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards competition, held by Healthcare Marketing Report. Genesis Recognized with Another Gold Award for Healthy Workplace Practices
Genesis HealthCare System has been recognized with a second consecutive gold award by the Healthy Business Council of Ohio for its commitment to the health and well-being of its employees. Genesis provides employee programs that encourage physical activity, better nutrition and preventing or stopping tobacco use. Participation in Wellness initiatives more than doubled in 2019, with 2,186 Genesis employees participating. Employees who participated in the Weight is Over program with weekly on-site weigh-ins collectively lost 2,732 pounds. With a healthy worksite, employees are motivated to improve their own health, which reduces healthcare costs and increases workplace productivity and satisfaction.

The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association recognize this hospital for achieving 85% or higher compliance with all Get With The Guidelines®- Stroke Achievement Measures and 75% or higher compliance with five or more Get With The Guidelines®- Stroke Quality Measures for two or more consecutive years to improve quality of patient care and outcomes.
