Genesis Urogynecologist Honored for Therapy Milestone

Mitesh Parekh, M.D., a Urogynecologist with Genesis Urogynecology, has been recognized by Medtronic, a leading medical device company, for his outstanding contribution in positively impacting the lives of 500 patients through the innovative InterStim™ therapy. This recognition is awarded to physicians for who demonstrate exceptional expertise in utilizing the InterStim™ therapy to alleviate symptoms associated with overactive bladder, fecal incontinence and non-obstructive urinary retention.

Dr. Parekh’s achievement was based on several criteria, including board certification in urology, obstetrics, gynecology and urogynecology, the completion of Medtronic education courses, and successful implantation of a minimum of 500 patients with the InterStim™ system, among others.

InterStim™ therapy utilizes sacral nerve stimulation to restore communication between the brain and bladder or bowels, regulating the function of sacral nerves to interpret signals from the brain and transmit them to the pelvic floor muscles.
