Genesis Coshocton Occupational Employee Health Services Moves Locations

Zanesville, Ohio (July 14, 2023) – The Genesis HealthCare System Coshocton Occupational Employee Health Services (OEHS) recently moved locations. 

Genesis Coshocton OEHS is now located at Coshocton MOB, Downtowner Plaza, 499 South Second St., Suite 420, Coshocton, Ohio 43812. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Genesis Coshocton OEHS provides quick, convenient healthcare services for local businesses and employees.

Services available include physicals (DOT/CDL, pre-employment, school bus drivers, return to work), immunizations, labs, pre-employment services (basic physicals including PFTs and audios), injury management, drug screen collections, hearing conservation program and comprehensive wellness services to create a healthy, productive workforce.

Genesis HealthCare System Offers Educational Series on Aging

Genesis HealthCare System is presenting “Aging Smart,” a four-part educational series on mature living to help community members thrive in the second half of life. The series is open to those who want to learn about being prepared for the future with information on community resources and options, either for themselves or for a loved one.

 

“Aging Smart” will be held June 27, July 25, Aug. 29 and Sept. 26. Each session begins at 5:30 p.m. at North Terrace Church of Christ, 1420 Brandywine Blvd., in Zanesville. 

 

Topics during the four-part series include:


•    Health, wellness and aging
•    Community resources and volunteer opportunities available
•    End-of-life decision making
•    Advance directives, living wills and healthcare powers of attorney
•    Hospice and palliative care information
•    Health insurance and financial planning information

 

Attendees will listen to presentations from Genesis and community organization experts and receive a notebook with resources, wellness tips and recipes. Refreshments will be provided. The program costs $20 for the entire series due when you register online. Financial assistance for the registration fee is available for those who qualify. Genesis Offers Free Physicals for Student Athletes in Coshocton

Genesis Primary Care, Genesis Orthopedics and Genesis Occupational Health are offering free sports physicals for student athletes from Monday, May 15 through Thursday, June 15. The physicals are conducted at the Genesis Physician Services office at 23599 Airport Road, Coshocton.

Appointments can be scheduled by calling 740-722-9568. Walk-in appointments are also available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. A parent or guardian must accompany minors. Student athletes need to bring the signed Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) form to the appointment.

River View NIKE Club Donates to Genesis HealthCare System

The River View High School NIKE Club donated $363.50 to Genesis HealthCare System for the Genesis Cancer Care Center. The money was raised by NIKE Club students selling donuts and hot chocolate in the high school. The fundraiser was organized by Adara Birkhimer, a junior at River View and member of the NIKE Club, which is a group of female students who support and empower each other.

 

“We are grateful for the River View NIKE Club’s donation that will be used toward patients’ supplies,” said Pebbles Thornton, Director of Genesis Cancer, Palliative Medicine and Hospice Services. “It is inspiring to see students who care about cancer patients have the initiative and dedication to raise the funds.”

Zanesville, Ohio (April 3, 2023) – Genesis HealthCare System’s Chief Transformation Officer Ed Romito has won the OhioCIO 2023 Large Corporate ORBIE® Award. The award recognizes IT executives with exceptional leadership, innovation, and vision; representing the characteristics and qualities that inspire others in the field of information technology. IT executives are evaluated in multiple categories based on the size and scope of the organizations they represent.

Ed Romito was named Chief Information Officer of Genesis HealthCare System in 2009, which later transitioned to Chief Transformation Officer. He is responsible for leadership and management of information technology, cybersecurity, clinical engineering and telecommunications functions across the enterprise. In 2010, Romito led the implementation of EPIC, an electronic medical record software used by the nation’s top health systems.  
 He and his team provide ongoing support for the electronic medical record and revenue cycle systems within the hospital, outpatient departments, ambulatory offices, analytics, patient engaging technologies and population health solutions; development and execution of the information systems strategic plan; and the management of health information across the care continuum.

Genesis Orthopedic Sports Medicine Offers Free Physicals

Student Athletes Can Make Appointments Now

Zanesville, Ohio (March 21, 2023) – Genesis Orthopedic Sports Medicine is offering free sports physicals for student athletes from Monday, May 15 through Friday, July 28. Evening appointments are also available on June 21, July 10 and July 25. The physicals are conducted at the Genesis Orthopedic Center at 2904 Bell St., Zanesville.

Appointments can be scheduled now by calling 740-586-6828. A parent or guardian must accompany minors. Student athletes need to bring the signed Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) form to the appointment.

Genesis Orthopedic Sports Medicine is staffed by orthopedic sports medicine surgeons, a physical medicine and rehab/sports medicine-trained physician, physician assistants, and certified athletic trainers. They treat orthopedic conditions and injuries of all types in addition to providing sports medicine services.

Genesis Coshocton Medical Center holds ribbon-cutting ceremony

Zanesville, Ohio (March 16, 2023) – Genesis HealthCare System held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Genesis Coshocton Medical Center at 48439 Genesis Drive, Coshocton. The center will open to the public on Monday, April 3.

 

“We are excited to celebrate the completion of the Genesis Coshocton Medical Center and what it means for residents of Coshocton and surrounding counties,” said Matthew Perry, President and CEO, Genesis HealthCare System. “Throughout our history, we have been committed to meeting the healthcare needs of this community. With the new, state-of-the-art medical center, we are providing high-quality healthcare with a wide range of services to residents close to where they live and work.”

 

Services at the Genesis Coshocton Medical Center include:

·      Emergency Department open 24 hours a day, seven days a week

·      Outpatient Surgery

·      Overnight Observation Unit

·      Imaging such as MRIs, CT scans, X-rays, 3D mammograms and ultrasound

·      Laboratory services with outpatient draw center

·      Cardiac diagnostics such as echocardiograms, stress tests, vascular ultrasound, EKGs, Holter monitors and cardiac CT scans

·      Respiratory therapy, including pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gases

·      Physical, occupational and speech therapies

·      Medical offices for physician specialists: surgeons, general cardiologists, gastroenterologists, and ear, nose and throat surgeons

 

The 60,000 sq. ft. facility combines superior clinical information technology, advanced clinical equipment, and the latest in healthcare facility design with the best physicians, nurses, technologists and support staff. More than 200 employees, many from the Coshocton area, work at the facility.

 

 

Construction began in June 2021. The $50.8 million cost of the project was supported in part by generous gifts from the Montgomery Foundation, the Coshocton Foundation and the Genesis HealthCare Foundation.

 

The community is invited to join the free Family Fun Day celebration Saturday, March 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those attending can tour the new medical center, enjoy refreshments and meet the staff. Entertainment for children includes face painting, a coloring station, superhero characters and clowns.

Northside Pharmacies Transitioning to Genesis Pharmacies

Zanesville, Ohio (March 9, 2023) – Genesis HealthCare System announced on March 9 that Northside Pharmacies, a subsidiary owned by Genesis since 1985, will change its name to Genesis Pharmacies. 

 

“Our community will continue to receive the same great care from the same familiar faces at their trusted hometown pharmacy,” said Matthew Perry, Genesis HealthCare System President & CEO. “Our pharmacy teams are dedicated to continuing their mission of providing quality, compassionate and comprehensive medical care.”

 

The transition will occur in phases, with the first phase including Northside Pharmacy on Taylor Street and Northside Pharmacy Roseville. Other locations will transition to Genesis Pharmacies later this year.

Zanesville, Ohio (Dec. 22, 2022) – Genesis HealthCare System was named one of the Most Wired® hospitals of 2022 by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).

Nursing Students Donate $500 to Genesis Cancer Care Center

The Muskingum University Nursing Student Organization recently donated $500 to the Women’s Boutique at the Genesis Cancer Care Center. The funds were raised by nursing students and will be used to assist breast cancer patients with supplies such as breast prostheses and mastectomy bras.

“We are honored to have the Muskingum University nursing students contribute to the care our breast cancer patients receive,” said Pebbles Thornton, Director, Genesis Cancer, Palliative Care and Hospice Services. “These students are our future healthcare providers and leaders, and we commend them for their commitment to helping people in our community.”
