Press Release

Genesis Behavioral Health recently received a $300 donation from Muskingum University’s Nursing Student Organization (NSO). NSO hosted a campus volleyball tournament and invited teams to participate for a $50 entry fee. The winning team, Chi Alpha Nu sorority, selected where to donate the proceeds.

Muskingum University student Marysa Starcher said, “Chi Alpha Nu donated to Genesis Behavioral Health because of the ongoing safe and caring environment they create within the community.”

NSO partnered with two Muskingum organizations for the tournament, Active Minds and the M.A.C.E. Club fraternity. Active Minds is a nationwide organization that promotes mental health awareness and education for young adults. Additional proceeds from a “Muskies Fight the Stigma” T-shirt fundraiser were included with the donation.

“We are appreciative that the students chose to support Genesis,” said Jerry Nolder, Executive Director, Genesis HealthCare Foundation. “Our future is bright with students like these who impact the community with their generosity.”

NSO participates in Muskingum University campus activities that support healthy lifestyle behaviors while developing skills essential for professional nursing practices. Associate Professor of Nursing Terra Armstead, DNP, RN, CEN, advises the organization.
