ThinkFirst Injury Prevention Program

Keep yourself and your family safe on the road, at home and at play with guidance from Genesis HealthCare System’s ThinkFirst Injury Prevention Program. You or your children may see Genesis trauma team members at a school or community educational event that aims to reduce your risk of brain and spinal cord injuries. You’ll also want to explore the following resources to help your loved ones stay healthy and well.

Stop the Bleed Class

Hopefully, you will never need it. However, just in case, Genesis offers free Stop the Bleed hands-on training classes. The class teaches participants to recognize and stop life-threatening bleeding until a first responder can take over. Stop the Bleed is offered by Genesis Trauma Services as part of a national campaign to train bystanders for emergencies. The classes are held throughout the year. For the next class, click here and choose Stop the Bleed from the category drop-down list.

Fall Prevention & In-Home Assessments

By reducing your risk of a fall, you lower the likelihood of an injury that requires in-hospital treatment. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related emergency department visits, hospitalizations and deaths for Ohioans 65 and older. Therefore, Genesis offers a free Matter of Balance program designed to help participants learn about fall risk, prevention and safety. For the next session, click here and choose Matter of Balance from the category drop-down list.

You can also visit STEADY U Ohio to discover simple ways you can help prevent falls at home, in the workplace and in your community.
