Department highlights
Acute Care Services is made up of six medical and surgical units:
- 4 West - Comprehensive Medical Unit
- 4 East - Surgical Unit/Med Surg/Trauma
- 4 South - Cardiac Unit - post cardiac procedures
- 3 East - Respiratory unit, pneumonia, COPD
- 3 West - Stroke/Oncology unit - Chemo patients, Comprehensive Medical Unit
- 1 West - Ortho/Neuro/Geriatric Trauma
Schedule:
- Shifts are 12 hours: day shift is 7 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and night shift is 7 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.
- Only work every third weekend
- Holiday rotation is assigned per weekend (work two holidays a year: a summer and a winter holiday; holidays rotate yearly.)
- Modified self-scheduling available
- Availability for overtime and bonus
Educational/growth opportunities:

- Chemotherapy administration certification
- Ultrasound guided IV insertion
- Shared governance councils and other nursing committee participation

The Surgical Services department consists of:
- Endoscopy – Colonoscopies and bronchoscopies
Operating Room
- General and Heart, Lung, and Vascular Surgery
- Genesis Surgery Center – Outpatient surgeries going home the same day
- Genesis Coshocton Medical Center (GCMC) Surgery Center – Outpatient surgeries going home the same day
- Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) – Waking up and recovering patients after surgery
- Outpatient (Pre/Post) – Getting patients ready for surgery and providing care and education to discharge home
- Preadmission Testing – Surgical optimization, preop instructions and medication evaluations
Schedule is based on where you work
- Each area has its own scheduling. We have 8, 9, 10 and 12-hour shifts depending on the area that you work
- Modified self-scheduling – Staff can make their own schedule, changes may need to be made based on staffing
Endoscopy, Main OR and PACU have on-call time with holidays and weekends
- On-call means that you are required to respond to the hospital for any emergency cases that arise. Surgery and PACU require a 30-minute response time, while Endoscopy requires a 45-minute response time

- Endoscopy offers a unique opportunity to learn all aspects of procedural care from pre-procedure, intra-procedure and post-procedure. We are a fast-paced environment performing procedures varying from diagnostic colonoscopies to advanced robotic bronchoscopies (one of two facilities in Ohio with this capability)
- Opportunity to cross-train to another area within surgical services such as Admitting/Recovery to the OR for GSC and GCMC or PACU to Outpatient Surgery and vice versa at the main campus
