What is the Zephyr Endobronchial Valve System?
A minimally invasive procedure that implants tiny valves in parts of the diseased lung to allow trapped air to escape, making it easier for you to breathe. There are no surgical incisions.
What is the procedure?
- You receive anesthesia to sleep
- A camera on the end of a tube (a bronchoscope) is inserted into your lungs
- The doctor typically places multiple Zephyr Valves in diseased airways
- You will stay in the hospital for at least three nights
- After the procedure, you will continue to use your prescribed medications
Who is eligible?
Patients with:
- A confirmed COPD or emphysema diagnosis
- Trouble breathing while on medication
- Reduced lung function
